Newborn Bottles
When you have your baby your first intention might be to breastfeed but I am suggesting that you have some bottles handy even if you are breastfeeding. Chances are you’ll need a hand or two and there’s nothing like a bottle of your breastmilk handy for someone else to feed to your baby. There is a huge list of things that need to get done once you actually give birth and I cannot tell you enough times how thankful I am to have full on help this time around. I was very excited to pick and choose what bottles I would use from the tons of free samples I collected over the course of my pregnancy. I selected the few I used with my first baby because not only did I like them but I figured they would work just as well as they did with my first baby.
I pulled out the MAM, Nuk Simply Natural, and Dr. Browns Bottles. For full disclosure I actually got the Nuk Simply Natural bottle when I purchased Babylist’s Bottle Box. Click here to see the unboxing of it. They now have an updated version but I’d say its worth a shot if you didn’t like any of the sample bottles you received. This time around I bought the glass version of the Nuk bottles. I really liked these but unfortunately the flow on these and the Dr. Browns bottles were way too fast for my baby.
It was a huge surprise to me when I pulled out some of the MAM sample bottles and saw that they had a size 0+ Months nipple size (Especially made for newborns). I had never seen this before but decided to try it. I’m so glad that I did because I noticed my little one struggling with the rest of the bottles I had already tried and with these nipples she didn’t have any leakage at all the flow was just right. I have been using these bottles ever since I found out they had the 0+ size nipple. We have not had issues with choking or coughing due to fast milk flow at all! Didn’t get any samples of these bottles? See what baby registry bags/boxes offer them here. If none of them come with the size 0+ nipple you can snag those here. It’s a must have if your baby can’t tolerate a fast flow even for size 1 (Still considered slow flow).
